Pediatric ENT

Children are especially prone to ear, nose and throat problems. It is never fun to take your child to the doctor, but if you must, you want someone who will make their visit a positive experience. At Texan ENT Specialists in the South Austin area, including Kyle, San Marcos, Buda, and Lockhart, Dr. Evans and his staff understand that a doctor’s office can be a scary place for kids, and we do everything we can to help you and your child feel at ease in our office.

Starting Treatment with a Pediatric ENT

ENT is somewhat unique compared to most other medical specialties because ENT doctors are fully trained to treat patients of all ages, including infants and young children. While there are subspecialists who complete 1-2 year fellowships in pediatric ENT, the extra training they receive after completing ENT residency is for complicated problems like airway reconstruction or rare congenital syndromes. All ENT doctors, whether they have extra pediatric training or not, are very experienced in evaluating and treating pediatric patients for common issues like ear infections, tonsil problems, snoring, and nasal congestion.

Extensive Pediatric ENT Training & Experience

Dr. Evans has extensive training and experience in the special needs of pediatric patients. Children are some of his favorite patients to see because they usually have such excellent response to surgery and medical treatment. It is very rewarding to see the life-changing benefit of a set of ear tubes or a tonsillectomy for kids and their families. And having kids around the office just adds an element of fun that is not always the case with adult patients.

Dr. Evans diagnoses and treats all types of pediatric ear, nose and throat problems, including:

  • Chronic ear infections and fluid behind the eardrum
  • Enlarged tonsils and adenoids
  • Nasal allergies and congestion
  • Chronic sinus infections
  • Perforated ear drum
  • Hearing loss
  • Foreign bodies in the nose and ear
  • Tongue tied (ankyloglossia)
  • Upper lip tie
  • Speech delay
  • Noisy breathing during sleep
  • Neck masses
  • Enlarged lymph nodes in the head and neck
